Physics, Chemistry, & Engineering
Our scientists & engineers apply basic principles of physics, chemistry, mathematics, and/or civil & mechanical engineering in all of the work that we do. In part, this is because we often go on to present and explain our findings to the public, to judges and juries, to reporters, and others not necessarily trained in these sciences, and/or engineering. Also, of course, starting from the basics often leads us to answers that are at once both common sense (more or less) and likely to be (at least close to) correct.
Probability & Statistics
Correct interpretation of experimental and observational data requires not only the specification of the physical situation under observation (that is, some sort of model), but also the realization that measurements rarely conform exactly to that specification. The observed and expected deviations from some specified model are the grist of statistical analysis. One of our strengths is evaluating adequate specifications for physical situations (any such specification is a model; and practically all models are only approximations), taking account of the deviations using statistical analyses, and making correct statements about what can, and, as importantly, cannot, be predicted on the basis of the statistics obtained. Health & Environmental Risk Assessment
Health and Environmental risk assessment is the estimation of the potential for harm resulting from chemicals, pathogens, invasive species, radionuclides, and/or other physical agents. Pharmacology, Toxicology, & Epidemiology
These sciences provide insights into the potential for harm to public health and the environment from various exposures. Green Toxicology scientists analyze pharmacological, toxicologic, and/or epidemiologic data on behalf of public- and private-sector clients alike, whether for presentation in community meetings, for the press, and/or when serving as expert witnesses in courtrooms. Safety Assessments
Much of our work involves assessing the safety of food, drinking water, consumer products, homes, work-places, and the larger environment. We have performed these assessments for regulatory agencies, cities and towns, labor unions, manufacturers, community groups, homeowners, real-estate developers, and others. Learn More-
